The much anticipated 'Bloom in the Park' festival starts today in the Phoenix park.
I actually managed to win two tickets on Tuesday to Bloom from a competition that I entered last week on the site 'Allotments.net'. The founder of the site, Thomas Cowderoy contacted me by email to say that my poem 'Ode to allotments' that I quickly put together had win the main prize. The poem was only 10 lines and took about 8 minutes to compose. I guess the auld poetry lark comes naturally to me!
I plan to meet Thomas tomorrow at Bloom and sit down to discuss my own site here, his site and what I plan to blog about the festival here on this page. I was supposed to be working at the festival alongside Unicef, who have their young climate change ambassadors at the festival to represent Ireland and highlight their organization and make their own local awareness of environmental issues well known. That involvement seems unlikely now at this late stage.
I am delighted to be going and plan to bring a digital camera alongside with my camera phone to capture the best sounds and images possible. Watch this space for more camera and 'flickr' images in the next week!
Tickets are still available for bloom 09 and all the info is available at bloominthepark.ie.
